Ponoka Minor Ball hosted their 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday January 9th, at 7:00 pm at the Ponoka Moose Hall. If you were unable to attend and have any questions, please reach out to the President or a Coordinator for the type and level of ball your child is looking to play. If a Bulls 'A' team decides to enter a tournament, play exhibition games or enter 'A' provincials there will be additional expenses. To minimize these additional fees per player, most teams will organize a fundraiser(s) or obtain sponsors. Teams can also choose to have parents provide money for a slush fund, where any remaining money in the slush fund would be returned to the parents at the end of the season.
Registration for Ponoka Bulls Community 'A' Baseball will open on February 8, 2023. Click HERE to register a player in the upcoming season (End date for registration in the Community 'A' Baseball program is TBD).
Practice days will take place on Tuesday and Thursdays. We will be trying to set up games between 9U teams both in Ponoka and surrounding communities (if possible). When playing another Ponoka team, games will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, however if playing a team from outside Ponoka there may be a chance of that happening on Mon/Wed, especially if the game is being played in the other community.
Community teams are usually determined around the middle of April. If there are enough players registered for more than 1 team to be formed, there will be skill evaluation dates set up in the middle of April to divide the players up into equally competitive teams or, depending on parent interest, to form a high skilled Community 'A' Provincial Rep Team.
Community teams play in the Central Alberta Baseball League (CABL). Historically, teams practice / play games during the week on Mondays and Wednesdays. At the Community level there are no league games scheduled on weekends, however, some teams do choose to enter tournaments.
Depending on weather and indoor facility availability the season usually consists of 2 practices per week around the middle to end of April. The first few weeks in May usually consist of 1 game and 1 practice with a transition to having 2 games per week from the middle of May to the end of June. Aside from the 2 games per week for most of the season, teams may decide to practice an additional day per week, but this is determined by each team and diamond availability.
Community A teams can choose to participate in a Provincial Tournament as well.
